You enter the lowest valley in the world to start your Makalu base camp trekking to the base of Mt.Makalu (8481m), which is the world’s fifth highest mountain. On the way to makaly trekking first you will have great chance to visit cloud-forest jungle, high alpine terrain, orchids, countryside dairy farm and bazaar villages where from you will follow the ridge above the Arun River, proposed site for the largest hydroelectric plant in Nepal. Pass through yak territories towards the never-ending ice fields of Mt. Makalu. View the Kanchenjunga massif, Everest, Lhotse, Baruntse and Chamlang as well as the rarely seen Kangshung face of Everest. Return through isolated Sherpa villages back to Tumlingtar for your picturesque return flight below the Nepalese Himalaya. This Makalu base camp trek offers one of the most fantastic, marvelous outlook from lush tropical green of Arun Valley up to the high remorseless ice fields of Mt. Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world, situated in the north east of Nepal.
The Makalu trekking starts from Arun Valley following the countryside areas, through fascinating medieval traditional markets and farm villages, this walk-in follows picturesque and rarely trekked route, offering views of Mt. Makalu and Kanchenjunga all the way, more stunning views of the Mt. Khumbakarna Range as you enter the Barun valley of Makalu basin. From here, the trek passes over the yak pastures beneath the Makalu’s towering south face along with the great view of one of the rare east (Kanshung) face of Mt. Everest.
This exploratory, unforgettable Makalu base camp trekking ends at Tumlingtar with a comprehensive picturesque flight back to Kathmandu.
